Briefing
What Is Crimson Moon?
Crimson Moon is a gothic action rpg roguelite by ProbablyMonsters, the studio whose development team signs its posts "Team Metal". It launched on 1 September 2026 at $19.99 on Steam, Epic, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. You play a Nephilim — a human-angel hybrid bound to the Order of the Crimson Moon — sent into the fallen city of Gildenarch on replayable runs: prepare at the Sanctus Clypeus hub, clear a district gated by Nexus Gates, kill the boss, come home, purify your loot, go again. Solo or two-player online co-op.
What the developer-run wiki documents at launch, and what this site tables: 33 weapons and 16 shields, 33 armor sets, 91 Boons, 63 trinkets, 28 Weapon Arts, two Angel forms, six Vessels and three Dead Gods across six districts, and 30 achievements with day-one unlock rates. There are no character classes — the builds page explains what replaces them.

Your First Hunt
Start Here: Prologue to First Abraxas Stone
- Survive the Prologue. It is designed to be losable — the achievement unlocks "in death or victory". Learn the parry window and that red-aura attacks must be dodged. Controls and parry timing →
- Do one lap of the hub. Gallant at the War Table, Gajov the blacksmith and Lotte the merchant at level 2, Mereda's Boons at level 4. Every station →
- Pick a status effect and stack it. Take the weapon whose Art applies Frost, Bleed or Burning, then choose matching Boons at every Nexus Gate. Synergy families →
- Carry loot through a gate before you die. Gear gated or carried to the end comes home and can be purified into your permanent Armory. How purification works →
- Bank Angel Ascension for the boss. Parries and executions charge it; the transformation cleanses debuffs and swaps your Arts for Angel abilities. Aegis and Sunder →

FAQ
Is this the Crimson Moon from Genshin Impact, Anime Vanguards or Sols RNG?
No. This site covers Crimson Moon the game by ProbablyMonsters, released on 1 September 2026 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Genshin's Crimson Moon's Semblance is a polearm, Anime Vanguards has a Crimson Moon unit category, Sols RNG has a Calamity of the Crimson Moon aura, Fate has Brunestud of the Crimson Moon, Snowbreak has a character called Crimson Moon, and Crimson Moon Rising is a Roblox game with codes. None of those are covered here.
Is Crimson Moon a soulslike?
ProbablyMonsters describes it as a gothic action-adventure RPG with 'visceral souls-inspired melee combat' and replayable runs. It has parries, stamina, dodges and boss encounters like a soulslike, but the structure is roguelite: a life pool instead of one life, no corpse run, run-only Boons, and permanent progression through purified gear and character level.
Is Crimson Moon good? What do the reviews say?
As of 2 September 2026 Steam shows 1,357 reviews, 57% positive (Mixed); Metacritic shows 73 from 5 critics; CGMagazine gave it 8/10; the PlayStation Store shows 4.46 stars from 576 ratings. Negative Steam reviews are dominated by the missing key rebinding, mouse sensitivity and FOV options on PC and by the lock-on camera. We do not score games ourselves — see the review page for the full breakdown.
How This Grimoire Is Kept
Crimson Moon Grimoire is an independent, unofficial fan resource for Crimson Moon players — not affiliated with ProbablyMonsters.
- How we verify: Every table row is copied from a primary source and labelled: weapon, shield, armor, Boon, trinket and Weapon Art text from the developer-run Crimson Moon Wiki, controls and system rules from the ProbablyMonsters support articles, achievement names and unlock rates from the live Steam achievement list for app 4317690.
- Update cadence: Launch-week posts get read the day they ship — the keybinding notice and the Known Issues list both landed on September 1 — and when Hotfix 1.0.1 publishes its notes, every table it touches is re-checked before that page’s date changes.
- What we don't do: No S/A/B tier list: the game publishes no damage numbers, so ranking weapons would be invention. No leaked content, no “free download” links, and where two official sources disagree — who sells rings, which shop stocks trinkets — both versions are shown with their source instead of quietly picking one.
